September 6, 2013 – Intermec 3400, 3420, 3440 End of Service
Intermec has announced that effective December 31, 2013 maintenance and technical support services will be concluded for all configurations and versions of the 3400, 3420 and 3440 printers.
All break/fix services for printers currently under contract will receive service until contract expiration. Contracts expiring now may request approval for a contract extension until December 31, 2013. However, no contract renewals will be accepted that extend beyond the end of service date of December 31, 2013.
Customers currently using Intermec’s flat rate repair services may receive service until December 31, 2013. Intermec will make its best effort to conduct repairs dependent on parts availability.
Service parts will be available to authorized Intermec partners through December 31, 2013, but are limited to supply on hand. Authorized Intermec partners must take delivery of the spare parts prior to December 31, 2013. Orders that are not fulfilled by that date are subject to cancellation.
Replacement printheads will continue to be sold through December 31, 2013, or until stock is depleted by an authorized Intermec partner.
The recommended migration path by Intermec is the PM43/PM43c mid-range industrial label printers, which continue the legacy with a design that maximizes uptime. Customers can count on the PM43/PM43c to deliver quick deployment, the fastest print speed in their class, and proven reliability. With the tamper-proof, 10-language, color touch-screen or universal-icon interface, customers will be able to reduce workforce training and support.
The table below outlines recommended corresponding models for migration from the 3400 models to the new PM43 and PM43c.
