Step-By-Step Instructions To Calibrate Ribbon And Media Sensor On The Zebra 105SL Plus
To calibrate the ribbon and media sensors on your Zebra 105SL Plus printer, follow these steps:
Preparation
– Media Type: Ensure the media type is correctly set (e.g., gap, black mark, or continuous).
– Maximum Label Length: Set the maximum label length to at least 1 inch (25.4 mm) longer than your label length to prevent the printer from assuming continuous media.
Calibration Procedure
- Access Calibration Menu: Press the SETUP/EXIT button, then press NEXT/SAVE until “MEDIA AND RIBBON CALIBRATE” appears.
- Start Calibration: Press the + key to begin. The display will show “LOAD BACKING CANCEL CONTINUE”.
- Open Printhead: Open the printhead and remove approximately 8 inches (203 mm) of labels, leaving only the liner between the media sensors.
- Continue Calibration: Press the + key. The display will show “REMOVE RIBBON CANCEL CONTINUE”.
- Remove Ribbon: Slide the ribbon as far from the printer frame as possible.
- Close Printhead: Close the printhead, trapping the ribbon in this position.
- Calibrate: Press the + key. The display will show “CALIBRATING PLEASE WAIT”.
- Reload Media: After calibration, the display will show “RELOAD ALL CONTINUE”. Open the printhead, pull the liner until a label is positioned between the media sensors, return the ribbon to its proper position, and close the printhead.
- Finish Calibration: Press the + key to complete the calibration.
- Save Settings: Press NEXT/SAVE to save the changes.
This process adjusts the sensitivity of both the media and ribbon sensors to optimize performance with your specific media and ribbon combination.
