Zebra ZT111 How To Unbox
To unbox the Zebra ZT111 thermal label printer is fairly easy and can be done within minutes.
Watch the video below.
Step-By-Step Instructions To Unbox The Zebra ZT111
What to expect in the box
According to the manufacturer, the ZT111 package should include:
- The printer itself.
- A power cord.
- A USB cable.
- Additional items depending on configuration (options like cutter, peeler etc).
Unboxing & setup steps
Here’s a recommended flow:
- Place the boxed printer on a stable, level surface.
- Open the box carefully and remove the printer. Take care: it’s fairly heavy for its size (the base model weighs ~17 lbs / 7.7 kg) per specs.
- Inspect the printer and packaging for any visible shipping damage. From the user guide:
“Immediately unwrap the printer and inspect for shipping damage. … Raise the media door, and inspect the media compartment for damage to components.”
- If you spot damage, document it (photos) and consider contacting the shipper or reseller.
- Remove all protective materials: plastic wraps, foam, tape securing media cover, etc.
- Open the media door (the bi-fold media door). This gives you access to the internal area where you’ll load media (labels) and ribbon if applicable. According to specs the ZT111 has a bi-fold media door with a large clear window.
- Connect power but do not yet connect to a computer (this is recommended by the docs). From Zebra’s support:
“IMPORTANT! Do not connect your printer to a computer yet!”
So plug in the printer power cord and turn it on, but hold off hooking up USB or network until driver or setup is ready.
- Install required driver/software on your PC first. The docs say: download and install the Windows printer driver before connecting.
- Once the printer is powered on and basic checks done (LEDs showing normal status), you can proceed with loading media (labels) and ribbon if you have the thermal-transfer option.
- For loading ribbon (if your model uses thermal-transfer): the user guide gives step-by-step instructions.
- Then load your labels/media.
- After media/ribbon loaded, you’ll want to calibrate the sensors etc (so the printer knows the size and type of media) before printing. The user guide covers this.
- Print a test label to confirm everything is working.
