To clear a media out error on the Zebra ZT231 thermal label printer is fairly easy and can be done within minutes.
Watch the video below.
Step-By-Step Instructions To Clear A Media Out Error On The Zebra ZT231
To clear the “Media Out” error on a Zebra ZT231 label printer, follow these steps:
- Check the Media:
– Ensure that the roll of labels or media is correctly loaded and that the media is not empty or jammed.
– Verify that the media is aligned properly in the printer. Make sure the label roll is loaded correctly in the media compartment and that the labels can freely pass through.
- Check the Ribbon (if applicable):
– If you’re using a ribbon, ensure it’s properly installed and has enough length. If the ribbon is out, replace it.
- Close the Printer Lid:
– The “Media Out” error may occur if the printer lid is not properly closed. Make sure the cover is fully closed and latched.
- Reset the Printer:
– Power off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then power it back on. This can sometimes reset the error condition.
– If the printer displays the same error after powering back on, proceed with the following steps.
- Check the Sensors:
– The ZT231 has sensors to detect media. Check that the media sensor is not obstructed by dust or debris.
– Gently clean the sensor with a soft cloth or compressed air.
- Perform a Calibration:
– You may need to calibrate the printer. To do this:
– Turn off the printer.
– Press and hold the feed button, then turn the printer on while continuing to hold the feed button.
– Release the feed button once the printer begins to calibrate and the labels start feeding through.
- Check the Settings:
– If you are using continuous media or die-cut labels, make sure the printer settings match the type of media you are using (i.e., label type, sensor settings, etc.).
- Try a Media Reset:
– From the printer’s control panel, navigate to the “Media” settings. You may find an option to reset or re-detect the media.
After performing these steps, the “Media Out” error should be cleared if everything is correctly aligned and functional. If the issue persists, there may be a hardware issue with the printer’s sensors or media handling mechanism, in which case contacting MIDCOM might be needed.
