Step-By-Step Instructions To Load Media With The Peel And Liner Take Up Option On The Zebra ZT231
Step‑by‑Step Guide
- Insert the media roll
Open the media cover, slide out and flip down the media supply guide, place the roll on the hanger, then flip the guide up and slide it in snug to the media - Open printhead and media path
Rotate the printhead lever up, slide the outer media guide out, and push down the peel‑off mechanism lever to open the peel assembly - Feed media through the path
Thread the media under the inner guide and through the transmissive sensor slot until it touches the sensor - Advance media & peel labels
Pull ~500 mm (18″) of media out. Peel off and discard the printed labels, leaving only the liner (backer) exposed - Load the liner into peel assembly
Feed the remaining liner behind the peel rollers so its end hangs out the printer’s front - Attach liner to take‑up spindle
- Only if you have the Liner Take‑Up option installed (or Rewind).
- Slide the liner into the slot on the take‑up spindle.
- Push it back until it meets the spindle’s back plate.
- Wrap it around the spindle and rotate counter‑clockwise to tension it
- Close everything
- Carefully close the peel assembly using the release lever (use your right hand only—avoid pinch zones)
- Slide the outer media guide to lightly touch the liner.
- Lower the printhead lever to its locked position, then close the media cover
- Configure printer mode
Set the printer to “Peel Off” or “Peel Off with Liner Take‑Up” via Menu → Print → Label Position → Collection Method - Start printing
Press PAUSE to exit pause-mode. The printer may auto-feed or perform a calibrationFor best results, run a media & ribbon calibration next.
(Print a configuration label by holding FEED + CANCEL for 2 seconds to check everything.)
Tips & Warnings:
- Only load the liner into the take-up spindle—do not attempt to take up the printed label stock.
- Be cautious—printhead and rollers get hot after printing, and closing the peel assembly incorrectly can pinch fingers.
- Consistent calibration and cleaning of the peel mechanism help prevent jams
