Step-By-Step Instructions To Do Ribbon And Media Calibration On The Zebra ZT411 Printer
To perform ribbon and media calibration on the Zebra ZT411 printer, follow the steps below to ensure proper detection and alignment. This calibration helps the printer automatically detect the size, type, and positioning of media and ribbon.
- Load Media and Ribbon
- Open the printer.
- Load the label media and ribbon (if using thermal transfer).
- Make sure the media sensor is positioned properly (typically under the gap or mark in the media).
- Access the Calibration Menu
- Tap Menu.
- Go to Settings > Sensors.
- Select Media and Ribbon Calibrate.
- Start the Calibration
- The printer will prompt you to remove labels from the media path and close the printhead.
- Follow the prompts:
- Close the printhead.
- The printer will feed and scan labels to detect label gaps, black marks, or notches.
- It may also detect the ribbon presence if applicable.
- Wait for Calibration to Complete
- The printer will feed several labels.
- Once done, it will show a confirmation or return to the home screen.
- Print a Test Label (Optional)
- Go to Menu > Print > Test Label.
- Choose Configuration Label or similar to verify alignment.

Important: Make sure you’re using the correct media type setting (gap, mark, or continuous). Incorrect settings will affect calibration accuracy.
Notes:
- If using direct thermal media, disable ribbon sensor under Settings > Print Method > set to Direct Thermal.
- If the printer continues to misfeed or show media errors, you may also perform a manual sensor calibration.
