Step-By-Step Instructions To Install The Cutter And Use The Setup Wizard On The Zebra ZT411 and ZT421
To install the cutter and use the setup wizard on the Zebra ZT411 or ZT421 industrial printers, follow these steps. The process is largely the same for both models, as they belong to the same printer family.
PART 1: Install the Cutter
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the media compartment by lifting the side cover.
- Remove any loaded media or ribbon.
- Remove the front panel bezel (if installed) by unscrewing it to make space for the cutter.
- Attach the cutter module:
- Align the cutter with the front of the printer.
- Insert the cutter into the slot and secure it with the provided screws.
- Plug the cutter power/data cable into the correct internal port (usually labeled).
- Reinstall media and ribbon.
- Close the media compartment and power on the printer.
PART 2: Enabling the Cutter via Printer Setup Wizard (on printer display)
- Power on the printer.
- On the home screen, press the gear icon or navigate to Menu > Wizards > Printer Setup Wizard.
- Follow the prompts:
- Set media type, media sensor, and print method (Direct Thermal or Thermal Transfer).
- When you reach the “Cutter” step, set Cutter = Enabled.
- Finish the wizard. The printer will calibrate automatically.
PART 3: Enabling the Cutter via Zebra Setup Utilities (PC)
- Download & install Zebra Setup Utilities from the Zebra website.
- Connect your printer via USB/Ethernet.
- Launch Zebra Setup Utilities and select your printer.
- Click “Configure Printer Settings”.
- In the options, find and set:
- Print Mode = Cutter
- Send the configuration to the printer.
PART 4: Test the Cutter
- Use the printer’s UI to navigate to:
Menu > Tools > Print > Configuration Labels - After printing a label, the cutter should automatically cut.
