Watch the video below.
Step-By-Step Instructions To Use The Auto Calibration On The Zebra ZT411 and ZT421
To perform auto calibration on your Zebra ZT411 or ZT421 printer, follow these steps:
Auto Calibration via Settings
You can configure the printer to perform auto calibration during startup or when the print head is closed by adjusting the POWER UP ACTION or HEAD CLOSE ACTION parameters.
- CALIBRATE: Adjusts sensor levels and thresholds, determines the label length, and feeds the media to the next web.
- SHORT CAL: Sets the media and web thresholds without adjusting sensor gain, determines the label length, and feeds the media to the next web.
These settings can be configured through the printer’s control panel or via the Zebra Setup Utilities software.
Manual Calibration
If you encounter issues with print output, such as skipped labels or misalignment, perform a manual calibration:
- Load Media: Ensure the media is properly loaded into the printer.
- Turn On the Printer: Power on the printer.
- Initiate Calibration: Press and hold the FEED button until the green status light flashes once, then release it. Press the FEED button again to feed one blank label.
- Access Calibration Menu: On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Print > Sensors > Manual Calibration.
- Start Calibration: Touch Start and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the calibration process.
Tips
- Ensure that the media length is slightly longer than the label length in the on-screen menu.
- When using thermal transfer media, load the ribbon correctly, with the ink-coated side facing outward.
- If using a linerless cutter, remove any media that extends out of the cutter before starting calibration to prevent sensor interference.
